Streetscapes Edition Sketch Books
Field Notes’ initial concept for the Limited Edition release in Spring 2023 focused on the urban architecture found in major American cities, highlighting the contrast between modern and traditional styles. They also decided it was the perfect opportunity to create high-quality Sketch books with premium body paper.
During their research, they discovered the impressive artwork of Steve McDonald, particularly his popular adult colouring books featuring real and imaginary cityscapes. After reaching out to Steve, Field Notes collaborated on selecting four captivating American cities, choosing views that aligned with his illustration style, exchanging sketches, and getting to work.
Simultaneously, they gathered information about the cities, experimented with different artistic mediums on various paper types, and are excited to unveil our 58th Quarterly Edition, “Streetscapes.”
Steve has created four beautiful architectural illustrations that cover the front and back of these Sketch Books, which measure 121 x 191 mm. There are two sets available, one showcasing Los Angeles and Chicago and the other featuring New York and Miami. Inside the covers, you will discover exciting facts about each city, as well as ideas to inspire your own drawings.
Each book contains 48 plain pages of high-quality Mohawk Superfine “Ultra White” 70#T paper, perfect for sketching and creating art with various mediums. The pages are held together with three black staples.
Steve’s detailed illustrations are stunning in black and white, but adding your own colours will make them even more special. Colouring these illustrations is a delightful experience. We are excited to see how your finished creations will turn out.
